Tuesday.. We started building a solar oven out of anything we wanted to use, and it was a lot of fun! We were building the solar oven out of a box, tin foil, and plastic wrap.
Wednesday.. We started to test our solar ovens, we had to melt a crayon, chocolate, caramel, and cheese! My team and I put the cheese, chocolate, crayon, and caramel in our solar oven, hoping it would work! We waited a while in the hot sun for the crayon to melt! All are other stuff melted but not our crayon!!!! Then we went inside to cool off, and when we went back outside noticed one of the groups thermometers busted!!! It was so funny that one of the group's thermometers busted; luckily it was not mercury! Thursday.. We went to Fry Ditch Creek for a field trip! We were going to make sure the water was safe for the fish and water life in it! We had to put on waders if we wanted to get in the water and help. So we put on our waders and got in the water
The were mussels and fish in the water; it was so cool! We got water samples and put them in jars. The we started to learn about all the different animals in the creek like Mosquito Fish, Crawfish , Zebra Mussels, and many more! Then we brought the water samples back to test them; it was not easy. At the end of the day we helped clean up. It was a great day at OSIEL.

Monday.... We started building our roller coaster out of our cereal box and paper. It was fun to build our roller coaster with recycled material! Our team came up with a mediocre design, so we started building our roller coaster inside the cereal box. We also started a new
book called "We Beat The Street". So far it is a great book. Wednesday... We were building our roller coaster and then we tested it; it only went for two seconds! This was bad because we needed to try to make it go the longest, like two minutes! So we restarted on our roller coaster with a new design. I hope it will slow down the marble to at least three minutes! Friday...We tested our new design today and it did okay. We are going to try and improve our design. Hopefuly our design will do better in the Tulsa coaster contest!

Monday.. we started our roller coaster project. We could only use copy paper, paper towel rolls, index cards, cereal boxes, and tape. It is was not easy. We started to researching different roller coaster shapes and designs. It was so much fun to look at other kids roller coaster designs.
Wednesday .. We were learning about the scientific method and the similarities and differences between the engineering and design process. For our demonstration, we saw a foam cup get put in acetone, and it melted! After it melts it turns into a white plastic!
Friday... Friday is my favorite day of the week. We started to make a catapult that could throw a marble super far. I was by myself, and it was fun until it broke
so I had to try and fix it in 30 minutes; it was hard. I got it done and tested it. It when super far! I thought I would do very well, until Logan tested his; it went SUPER FAR! It beat me by a mile! But, I was able to get a one hundred on it from being second place.

Monday.... Today we learned what a cantilever is a rigid structural element, such as a beam or a plate, anchored at only one end to a (usually vertical) support from which it is protruding. We also learned more Spanish words like el pan mean the bread and pollo means chicken.
Wendsday... We started are cantilever with 50 straws we had to hold 5 marbles, are's was able to hold 20 marbles. We also had to use Engineering design process to make the cantilever Tuesday... I was so happy because we were able to look at mosquitos under a microscope. The were so hair and creepy and scary. We also looked at hair and plants under the microscope. later we worked on are cantilevers again and had to restart on are cantilever because it was not strong enough, so we started a new design with ALSO DIDNT WORK. We didn't know what do do now because all of are designs were not working so I had a idea to make a new idea with was able to hold 50 marbles but it was almost not long enough, but lucky it was just the right size.

TUESDAY.... We started our mosquito traps . My team and I made a trap from 2 cups, black tape, a funnel, and string. We taped the cups together with the black tape, then put the funnel in the cups, and in one of the cups we put bananas and perfume ( it smelled really bad). We did not catch any mosquitos ,only ants . So we made a new one that floated, but that did not work ether. However, we learned the engineering and design process. FRIDAY.... We started to make a blog; it was really hard. We also did a lot of Spanish. I learned el nino and la nina.

I was working on Flowtography for weeks! It was hard but it was fun. We had to write poems next to the pictures. We also had to write the tile. Two of my tiles were "The Flame" and "Alone". It took me a weeks to even get one poem, so it was harder to get four! Even though it was hard it was fun!! I loved to take the pictures and write the poems. On Saturday we put our pictures up for auction. I was so nervous! What if I didn't sell mine?! I was nervous, but I was exited! At the end of the silent auction I sold all my pictures! My class also raised about 3,100 dollars! That is a lot of money! I was so happy! We raised a lot money for Puerto Rico! It was a lot of fun too!
