Oklahoma Field Trip!

Posted by [email protected] on November 7, 2016 at 10:20 AM
Thursday... We started to go to the wind turbine farm. On our way up we saw a bunch of wind turbines. We saw a huge blade bigger then a bus! We learned that wind turbines need an angle, so it can make energy. After the wind turbine farm, we started to drive to the Wichita Mountains. When we got to the wildlife preserve we saw prairie dogs, buffalo, longhorns, and much more! We visited the Parallel Forest too. After the wildlife preserve, we when to Mount Scott. We looked at all the big boulders on the mountain. Friday.... On Friday we went to the OKC Memorial. I put a teddy bear on the fence for the little kids who were in the building that exploded. I learned Timothy McVeigh made the bomb and Terry Nichols helped. It was sad at the memorial, but I learned a lot. After the memorial we headed home.

Did you fun climbing on the boulder? It sounds like a busy and fun week! I remember when the bombing in Oklahoma City happened. I was in middle school when it happened. It was a very sad time and the memorial is a good reminder that we should never let hate enter our hearts because hate can lead to terrible things. I'm glad you were able to go and learn about all that happened though.
